JBM EV unveils next-generation electric luxury coach at Prawaas 5.0

The coach offers the highest seating capacity and luggage space in its segment, enabling operators to improve revenue potential while enhancing passenger comfort on long-distance routes, the company said.

JBM Electric Vehicles (JBM EV) on Friday unveiled the next-generation GALAXY electric luxury coach at Prawaas 5.0, expanding its premium electric bus portfolio with what it claims is India’s first indigenously developed sleeper-and-seater electric luxury coach.

The coach was launched by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Nishant Arya, Chairman, JBM Electric Vehicles.

The new GALAXY platform will be available in three configurations—seater, sleeper and sleeper-cum-seater. The newly introduced sleeper-cum-seater variant is offered with either 22 Maharaja reclining seats and 20 sleeper berths along with an onboard washroom, or 24 reclining seats and 20 sleeper berths without a washroom.

The coach offers the highest seating capacity and luggage space in its segment, enabling operators to improve revenue potential while enhancing passenger comfort on long-distance routes, the company said.

“The next-generation GALAXY has been developed to meet the evolving expectations of premium inter-city travel with a sharper focus on luxury, utility and business efficiency. It reflects our commitment to creating electric mobility solutions that are sophisticated in design, practical in operation and aligned with the future of sustainable transportation,” said Nishant Arya, Chairman, JBM Electric Vehicles.

The electric coach features a European-inspired design with panoramic windows, reclining seats, individual air-conditioning vents, reading lights, USB charging ports and increased legroom and headroom.

On the safety front, the vehicle is equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), Electronic Braking System (EBS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), hill-hold assist, live surveillance cameras and emergency exits.

The coach also features electronically controlled air suspension, kneeling and height-adjustment functions for easier boarding, modular battery packs, regenerative braking and fast-charging capability.

JBM said the GALAXY platform has already demonstrated operational capability of more than 900 km per day, underscoring its suitability for intercity operations.
